After Roger left school, he worked for Jennings Musical Industries making Banjos, Guitars and the like before starting his engineering apprenticeship. Roger graduated from that as an industrial engineer. When serious engineering left the UK, he moved into plastics and then confectionery manufacture. After 20 years in manufacturing, Roger transferred into logistics and there he stayed ending up with an international oil company until retiring in 2012.

Roger's outside interests are local and family history, but his biggest passion is classic motorcycles. Roger also loves to work with the local community, being an active member of the East Malling Conservation Group, the East Malling Institute Trust and the Clare Lake Restoration Group. Roger also helps out when he can at the East Malling Centre events. Being a Parish and Borough councillor fulfills his needs to help as much as he can with the community of East Malling and the wider area. Roger was elected to Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council in May 2015.
