Could you be a Borough Councillor?

On Thursday 7th May 2015 not only will there be a General Election but also elections for all the Councillors on Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and the areas parish councils
Although most parish councils are not elected on a party basis we are looking for suitable candidates to contest the Borough Council elections.

Any person over the age of 18 who is a UK citizen can stand for the councils and if elected make a difference by influencing the decisions which affect our local area.
The Borough stretches from Blue Bell Hill to Tonbridge and East Peckham to Stansted with 53 councillors. The political balance is currently Conservative 47, Lib Dem 4, labour I and Indpendant 1.
As Liberal democrats we feel that such a large one party rules is not good for local democracy and a more balanced council is needed. At the very least we want to make sure all the seats are contested so local people have a choice.
We are looking for people who are interested in the local community and local issues who mights be interested in standing next May though we need to have people in place as soon as possible.  If you might be interested in finding out more please contact David Thornewell on 01732 847415, by email [email protected] or you could leave a comment below.
